Simple, healthy and inexpensive college meal (aka) The many ways of eating green beans

To make Monday a little bit more exciting, let’s put aside some school works and talk something fun, shall we? By something fun, I mean food, and I hope you also agree. Do you love green beans? Do you eat healthy? Do you enjoy and appreciate easy and simple recipe? If yes, I think you are reading the right post.

This is what we´re making
This is what we´re making – A pack of salmons that contains 4 slices costs 38.90 –42.90Kr at Kiwi (depends on the packing,  you have to  get the ones with skin). Skinless ones cost a little more and I see no point buying those since removing fish skins is not difficult at all.

A pack of frozen green beans costs 11.50Kr at Kiwi and it has two portions, very okay for a student budget. Before you stir-fry, make sure you soak the beans in very cold water to defrost. You’ll get a funny taste if you use hot water, or may be you’ll like it, I don’t know. Your choice!

Drain the water and then just stir-fry the beans. Don’t know how to stir-fry? It’s okay, I still got your back ;). So basically, you heat your frying pan on high heat, put a little bit of oil, add a little bit of garlic (if you’d like) when the oil is hot, add the beans, add salt and pepper (again, optional). Stir often, and that’s called stir-frying. You do that for about 7 minutes if you want your beans to be completely cooked.

You can eat your fried-beans with anything. The easiest and also one of my favourite ways is to eat with Norwegian salmon. I just microwave the fish, and that’s it. To tell you the truth, I’m the queen of microwave (meaning, I microwave everything), more on this later.You can also eat with rice and fried egg like this.

Another way is to fry with other veggies, very suitable when you are cooking for many people.
